Fail Whale!

Yes! Another one! I was so comfortable with Facebook and i thought, this would be my FINAL networking site, but i have been proved wrong, AGAIN!!!

Twitter is here-the next BIG THING!

I first came to know about twitter, when there was news, that Mr. Google (
yes, it' masculine, all good things are masculine) showed interest to buy Twitter.

It wasn't a professional networking site like Linked in, neither it was a social networking site like orkut, Hi5, facebook, myspace, it is what people called Micro-Blogging.

The term "Micro-Blogging" is quite self-explanatory. For people who dont know, why don't you see this Micro-blogging.

So, when CTO of my company started Tweeting, i thought it was quite cool, actually what really got me going was the "firefox twitter address bar plugin", i thought writing in the address bar and posting was so Geeky. Anyways, it took me day, to reset my old password and finally start tweeting.

Now, i am twittering and i am really liking it, the concept is really cool, you tweet about whatever is happening in your life, what you are doing, what you don't like at that particular time, in short for people who understand the fb language, it is nothing but a series of FB like status called "Tweets".

Another very cool thing about twitter is, it's app's to tweet, some user use a desktop version of twitter called twitterdeck, some use it in their browser like twitterfox ( this is what i use) or twitter opera, some use it from their blackbeery- twitterberry and some boring people use it from the web. :-p

Gul Panag uses iphone to twitter, surprized?! how i know that ? Well a very interesting concept again, i can follow celebrities on twitter and know what they are doing. Quite kool! Like, Gul just downloaded OS 3 on her iphone.

Like in facebook, you have celebrity pages, there are these verified account of celebrities and u can follow what they are doing.

And then there are news channels like CNN, NDTV, NYT, tweeting all the latest news...it is just incredible how a simple concept can pick up so fast. My CTO told me that 75% of the user of twitter joined in the year 2009, that is simply INCREDIBLE !!!

But all is not good, though a lot of traffic flows to these micro-bloggin website and social networking sites, the founders have not been able to come up with a revenue generating model, as the cost of operating high traffic sites is quite huge. Advertisments are only way to make money here. Facebook did try to modify the privacy policy to try and create an alternative revenue generating stream to Ads but had to go back to it's previous policy after user protested against it.

Twitter also faces a similar dilemma, However, nothing is stopping people from coming up with newer social networking concepts, and who know's, someday, we might actually pay, to be part of some extremely interesting networking concept.

Tring Tring !!

I very clearly remember the days i was in class 5 or 6, and i had a huge crush on this classmate of mine and used to speak to her on the phone after school. The word " Phone" here refers to a landlines and NOT mobile phone, not that mobile phone had not come, they had, my dad had one - bulky, Panasonic phone with a huge antennae.

It is quite funny to, that i remember using landline nearly 12 years ago, but i cant remember when i last used the landline in past month.

Mobile Phone has completely taken over my life, FYI and also to showoff, i would let u know, that i have a blackberry curve (8310). I spent part of my 1st salary to buy it.( i avoided writing "i spent half or 3/4th of my salary to buy it", for obvious reasons ;-) )

I get up in the morning, the first thing i do is check my messages, then during the day ' n' number of calls, numerous messages, calls again, it just does not STOP!.

And in case, you are seeing someone or let's say doing ground work for the girl/boy you like or for a possible customer, then you would be wearing a headset the complete day - while working , while driving, while eating. Crazy!!!

I have friends who would call me when they have just left office and want to talk when they climbing down the stairs, as they have nothing else to do. Some would call me when they are in the car and have nothing else to do and are getting bored, they would call me, you can so make out that they have called you to timepass. All the call that you have to return, you would do when your walking to the market, driving etc.. It's like " ek teer se do nishane", you have also shown that you have returned his/her call and at the same time, passed your time, while walking/driving towards your destination. Well that what happens with my friends.

I tell my friends, you ve called me to "use me"-like you use a paper napkin-you clean your hands and throw it once your done, very similar to "hanging up" when they have reached their destination or when they think now you are boring them.

Now, the phrase " ok, i ll call you back" has no significance, i know when some of my friends use this phrase, they don't mean - they'll call me back, it means - ok, i need to put the phone down.

Here i'd like to add, i do the same thing SOMETIMES! am learning the art from them. :-)

But yes, this phone has just become a part of my life and cannot do without. Now, every 2-3 months, i celebrate, "Switch off" day, where i completely switch off my phone and sleep.

I had one last week, and i loved it!

This sums up my first post, and i would PUBLISH it, and then check all the errors i have made while writing this. But i enjoyed it, it was also a good way to practice my typing speed. For ppl who dont know, i bought this software to improve my typing speed and technique, and i have in the past 3 months, gone from 22 wpm to 45 wpm.

P.S: Any coincidence with the above incidents is very intentional. LOL
